THEMATIC AREAS
Education & Youth Development
We recognize that education is not only a fundamental human right but also necessary if any meaningful development is to be brought to the communities we work in.
Good Governance & Gender Inclusion
Our work in Good Governance seeks to improve on transparency and accountability at both the community and district level.
Sustainable Livelihood
Over 90% of the people in our area of operation are poor small holder farmers. Farming is the single most important means of livelihood for all these people.
Human Rights & Sanitation Promotion
The Upper East region, in the far Northeast corner of Ghana, is one of the remotest and poorest areas in the country where health services indicators are significantly worse than the national average. The indicators are no any better for maternal and neonatal deaths as a result of several factors including inaccessible health hospitals due to bad road networks, acute shortage of health personnel, ill performing referral system and negative cultural beliefs, high illiteracy and poverty.
Climate Change & Food Security
Climate change has already resulted in severe drought and floods in the three northern regions of Ghana. Temperatures have also recently increased to unprecedented levels (40 to 42 degrees Celsius) usually around March to June of every year resulting in the loss of lives and property. As a member of the Ghana Climate Adaptation Network (Ghana CAN), DRAC is strongly committed to the protection and preservation of the biodiversity of the area. In this regard the organization aims at partnering the EPA, CBOs, and CSOs to deliver appropriate programmes that will effectively address climate change.
